Flag is flying!
Plans: start of a three-day weekend!
Frija, Great All-Mother; caregiver of Family, Hearth and Home. Teach us to be patient but not passive; wise but not haughty in our wisdom; far seeing yet not blind to that which is before us. May we nurture life, increase life, and live our own lives more fully. Through you we give honor to our human mothers. Through you we see all the beauty that surrounds us as well. WE GIVE YOU A MOST HEART-FELT HEIL, FRIJA, as we honor the Frija that resides in us all!

That I know as the fifth, should an enemy’s
Arrow come flying into the throng;
As bright as it might clash, I stem it’s power
Once I firmly fix my eye on it.

Outcome: Good 7hrs of sleep!
Toby out for his .8 mile walk. The intent was a full mile, but he sure pooped out. It didn’t seem THAT warm; actually, it’s a bit cool and overcast.
Essie on her tether.
*When Toby barks it’s usually for a reason. I went out to check and it seems
that Essie had scampered up the oak tree and her harness got tangled in a
branch. Just as I got outside, Essie had wiggled out from her harness and
dropped to the ground. She came A-RUNNING to the door! Good girl, Essie.
Corner convenience store for paper and petrol.
Off to Goessel
At the Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum I picked up four books:
*An Introduction to Mennonite History by Cornelius Dyck
*The Story of Low German and Plautdietsch by Reuben Epp
*Mennonite Low German Proverbs from Kansas by Isaias McCaffery
*Wi Leahre Plautdietsch; A beginner’s Guide to Mennonite Low German by Isaias
McCaffery
**A WEALTH of knowledge here!
Also a jar of Sandhill Plum Butter
Stopped in Hesston to once again relive memories of/at Grandma and Grandpa Reimer’s house on Knott Street. It’s in a serious state of neglect. Last I heard someone was using it for storage. The yard is horribly overgrown. If I could only somehow own it.
Stopped in at Bethel College http://www.bethelks.edu/ in North Newton in an effort to get more info on Plautdietsch. What they call a “bookstore” is anything but that. They really need to call it “Bethel Apparel Shop”. It seems that books are ordered online, not obtained on campus, which is a FAR CRY from anything I’ve experienced here in Wichita at WSU, Newman or WATC.
Stopped in at “The Bread Basket” in Newton to visit with my cousin, but they told me she had retired last year. Yup, slowly but surely everything is going away.
*Bought a bag of zwiebach:

*Called my cousin as soon as I got home. Her mother, my Aunt, turns 94 this week.
Mowed the front yard complete and the back yard to the Wîhstat. It may still be overcast but it’s heluh humid!

Chatting with Jamie online and rushed to put away the electric mower…it’s started to sprinkle.

Thanks to an online Irminenschaft brother, I discovered a new website:
Sonnenkreuz http://shop.sonnen-kreuz.de/
VERY nice!
Essie is so sweet when she comes to lie down in the Man Cave.
Once again it seems weather-channel.com is showing some severe weather is taking direct aim for Wichita. Toby and Essie are inside, and I’m not giving Socks the option to come out from his Cat House; perhaps later.
Life is good, at this point!
When the thunder and lightening started, Essie took refuge behind the door and under the vanity in the bathroom. Toby and I laid down on the floor with her for a while. When I woke up, Essie had moved.
