6th Day of Yule – Remembering the Noble Virtue of Fidelity
We must remain loyal to who and what we are. Those around us need to have the ability to take us at our word, and our word needs to be our bond. Our handshake needs to seal the deal. The devotion to our deeds has to be of the uttermost importance.

NOTE: I’m a waxing bit nostalgic this morning:

This being the Christian Christmas I remember my childhood on 9th St. Our family only had two houses; one on Edwards and one on 9th street. The one on 9th street was made specifically for my father as he was an MS patient. Father only lived in it a few years until he died in ‘63. Mom made every effort to give us the best Christmas morning she could; at least I can see that now. I honestly don’t remember if I was elated or disappointed on mornings like this, but what I do remember was that damned aluminum foil tree. You know or have seen them; those trees that had aluminum foiled branches with that god-forsaken four-color wheel that rotated and changed the color of the tree. Mom was so proud of that thing. She pompously placed that tree smack-dab in the center of the GARGANTUAN picture window! Why is it I remember damned that tree more than anything else we ever got or did during this holiday season as kids?

I’m also remembering the fruit, peanut and candy sacks my grandparents would hand out. As both sides of the family (Reimer/Hildebrand, Schmidt/Goertz) come from a common German heritage, no matter which side of the family we visited we got the same things in the same sized sacks; an apple, an orange, candy and peanuts. My grandparents were AWSOME!

(tears) Those were some good ole days; such a lifetime ago. While I indeed cherish the memories they can never be retrieved in reality. Life goes on. People grow up. People change. Situations change. People move on. Things become unavoidably disconnected.

AM Prayer: Saturday, normally attributed to the fertility goddess, Saeter, we pray to Sibba/Sif, lighting a green candle (for fertility):
Sibba/Sif let us see you in all the growing things that sustain our lives. Help us look beyond the packaging and promotion, to the richness of the Earth from which all bounty comes. When ordinary eyes see only corn, let us see your golden hair hid in its silk. When others see only bread, let us see the grain, beyond that, your smile and laughter. Feed our might and main, Holy Sibba/Sif, that we may do our work in the world. HAIL SIBBA/SIF!!

AM Rune: Berkana (U): The feminine, Nerthus, birth processes, rejuvenation, growth, nurturing, mature wisdom, recuperation, purification, the birch tree, birth, becoming, life changes, the Earth Mother, the kind Mother, Frija/Frigga at her most Motherly, healing, bringing into being, a significant life passage.

Outcome: It has been a good slow morning. I kind of did an overview of the two books I’ve received over Yule. Both of them look very promising.

Okay, it got the better of me. I JUST CANNOT DEAL with Audie opening up one present a day over the 12 Days of Yule! It was about to drive me NUTS for her to get to her jewelry which she wasn’t going to open until late next week. CRAP! DAMNIT! Open them already! So she did. Today she opened her mukluks, her emerald necklace, earrings and ring set. She was absolutely floored!

Me to my niece’s. OMGs what a feast it was! I never got a chance to get the little guy’s train set up.

Audie to her parents’ house. I thought she’s be ready by the time I got there, but she was waiting on a niece she hasn’t seen in years. I waited with her for a bit but soon excused myself.

Audie’s wait was well worth it! It seems she and her niece had a really good visit and the process of mending fences is well underway. There is some serious long overdue healing, growth and regeneration going on!

PM Prayer: All you gods and goddesses bless and keep your Holy Folk. From the cold shadows of the glaciers to the colder shadows of space, always, we have been your people. Guide and guard your North folk as you did in ages past. Wodan/Odin, give wisdom and craft to wits shaped by ice and fire that our foes be foxed. Donar/Thor, give us strength and the will to use it. Ing Fro/Freyr and Frouwa/Freyja, give full wombs so that bodies will be found for the souls of heroes. Let your Northern Folk grow in number and in power, so that our kind may live, love, survive and thrive, not just today, not for a millennium, but for ever and ever!

PM Rune: none
